If you’re questioning how CBC transformed into a platform for woke culture rather than remaining an impartial news source, their hiring practices provide the answer.
Despite setting a target of 64% DEI hires for 2024, CBC surpassed this goal, achieving 84% DEI hires. Consequently, a white writer like myself would likely struggle to progress past the initial hiring stage, where organizations such as CBC and UBC (University of British Columbia) filter applicants through a pre-application questionnaire that includes questions that were once illegal for employers to ask.
What types of questions are included?
Questions such as “Are you a person of color?” “Do you identify as a gender other than the one you were assigned at birth?” and “What is your sexual orientation?” among others.
THE MAJORITY OF HIRING MANAGERS AT DEI-ORIENTED COMPANIES INDICATE THAT DIVERSITY TAKES PRECEDENCE OVER QUALIFICATIONS.
Although the left dismisses the concept of quotas as a myth, “CBC has indeed implemented a quota, which in 2024 they exceeded by 20%.” (Source: The Hub)
About this, while the left refutes the notion that unqualified people are being hired to meet these quotas, a study by Resume Builder (2025) reveals that “More than half (58%) of hiring managers at companies with DEI initiatives believe their organization prioritizes diversity over qualifications to some degree. Additionally, nearly one-third (31%) report that their company deprioritizes candidates who are not deemed diverse, and 10% admit to avoiding the hiring of white men.”
Current status:
“Some employment lawyers believe the CBC’s fixation on race and disabilities in its hiring process is limiting the broadcaster from accurately reflecting the Canadian population, and could fall into hiring discrimination.” (Source: Nationtalk)
If anything, these numbers should help you understand that quotas and the left encouraging discriminatory hiring practices against white people, heterosexual white men in particular, aren’t a myth at all but a real issue that needs to be addressed to ensure fair and unbiased hiring practices across all demographics. It should also help you understand that you aren’t imagining that the CBC is biased in its reporting, but rather that there is concrete evidence to support these claims.
